Data protection and your GDPR rights

Under UK GDPR you have clear rights over your personal data. Muswell Rose Consulting Limited, which operates MortgageExplained, is the data controller for enquiries you send us. We only collect what you submit, use it to introduce you to a regulated broker, keep it no longer than needed, and never sell it. You can access, correct or delete your data, or complain to the ICO, at any time.

Who controls your data

Muswell Rose Consulting Limited is the data controller for the information you send through this site. When we introduce you to a regulated mortgage broker and pass on your enquiry, that broker becomes a separate data controller and handles your data under their own privacy policy. What we collect and why

We collect only the details you choose to enter in an enquiry, such as your name, email, optional phone number, a broad description of your situation and any message. We use them to respond to you and to introduce you to a regulated broker who can advise you. There is no account and no email gate to read the guides.

Our lawful basis

We rely on your consent when you submit an enquiry asking to be introduced to a broker, and on our legitimate interest in responding to messages you send us. You can withdraw consent at any time by asking us to delete your data.

How long we keep it

We keep your enquiry only for as long as we need it to make and follow up an introduction, and then delete it. If you ask us to delete it sooner, we will.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to be informed, and to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To use any of these rights, email [email protected] and we will respond within one month.

Complaining to the regulator

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We would welcome the chance to put things right first, so please contact us before you do.
