MortgageExplained is an independent UK mortgage information website, owned and operated by Muswell Rose Consulting Limited. It explains how mortgages work in plain English. It is not a broker, not a lender and not an advice firm.
What we are
We are a plain-English mortgage information site with a single purpose: explain the real answers, so you know where you stand before you speak to a regulated broker. We focus hardest on the situations the high street handles worst, self-employed and complex income, company directors, contractors, buy-to-let, and the remortgage-or-product-transfer decision.
What we are not
We are not a lender, and we are not a regulated advice firm. We do not recommend a specific mortgage for your circumstances; that is regulated advice and it comes from a regulated broker, not from us. We are independent: not owned by a bank, a lender or a comparison portal.
Who writes it
Every page is written by Adam Parker, who is CeMAP and CF qualified and spent over eight years advising on mortgages at Just Mortgages. Read more about how we work and our trust and governance.

Adam spent over eight years as a mortgage adviser at Just Mortgages, with further experience in commercial finance. He is CeMAP and CF qualified. He built MortgageExplained to do one thing well: explain mortgages in plain English, so you know where you stand before you speak to a regulated broker. Every page on the site is written by Adam.
